What the play is about!
Hermia wants to marry Lysander but her father Egeus wants her to marry Demetrius. If she doesn't Egeus is going to kill her or she will become a nun.
Helena, Hermia's best friend, loves Demetrius. But Demetrius hates Helena.
Lysander and Hermia run away to Lysander's aunt's cottage to get married but Helena tells Demetrius what they are going to do. Then they chase after each other.
Meanwhile six men were practicing a play for Duke Theseus and his bride Hippolyta. The play is about a lover that kills himself for love.
Oberon king of fairies orders his servant Puck to find a magical flower that when it is put in someone's eyes they will fall in love with the first thing they see. Oberon wants the flower so he can trick Titania.
Nick Bottom is one of the six men practicing the play. Puck plays a trick on Nick Bottom and turns his head into a donkey. Then Oberon puts the love juice in Titania's eyes and when she wakes up she falls in love with the donkey.
Oberon gets mad at Puck because he also put the juice in Lysander's eyes and he was supposed to put the juice in Demetrius's eyes so he would fall in love with Helena. So Oberon went to put the juice in Demetrius's eyes.
And then Demetrius and Lysander fall in love with Helena, Helena thought it was a joke. Then Hermia rushed in to view and got angry at Helena because Hermia thinks that Helena took Lysander while he was asleep.
Then Puck took the juice from Lysander's eyes and turned the donkey back into a guy. Oberon took the spell off Titania his queen. And everything was back to normal.
Then they watched the play Peter Quince had planned and then they all got married Demetrius and Helena, Hermia and Lysander, and Duke Theseus and Hippolyta.
